Leeroy Stagger in Edmonton Sept.11th 2014

Last Thursday I saw Leeroy Stagger and his band play The Artery in Edmonton. This was my seventh time seeing Leeroy Stagger in concert. It was good to see him play with a full band, as it had been two years since seeing him with the band, the last couple of times had been acoustic shows, so this was going to be a treat. This was also my first time seeing a show at The Artery. This is a cool little intimate venue in downtown Edmonton that has a capacity of around a hundred people.

For some stupid reason, Leeroy has never really drawn a good crowd here in Edmonton, but on this night he had a decent size audience for his show. I am thinking maybe his appearance at this summers Edmonton Folk Festival won him some new fans, because there was no advertising for this show whatsoever in the papers or posters around town.

Leeroy and his band put on an almost two hour rocking show. He covered a lot of material from his nine albums, and did three new songs, I only recall the title of two of them though, which were "Living In America" and a song called "Poison The Water". Both songs were excellent. The song "Living In America" was wrote while he was in Chicago in February when he opened three dates for Steve Earle there. Leeroy and his band also rocked out an awesome version of his song "Dirty Windshields" from his last album Radiant Land. This was a wicked show, if you are fan of Steve Earle and Neil Young you have to check out Leeroy Stagger. Good times!!!
